Experian Boost^®

Did you know that your Breakwater Federal Credit Union accounts are compatible with Experian Boost^®? That means that you can use on-time payments for bills such as rent, utilities, and streaming services to help boost your FICO^® score!

All you have to do is sign up for a FREE Experian account and do the following:

On the App

1. 1. 1. Login to the Experian app.
      2. Click the icon that says “More” with three dots (on the menu across the bottom of the screen).
      3. Tap “Experian Boost^®.”
      4. Tap “Start your boost.”
      5. Review and accept the legal terms and conditions.
      6. When it asks for your financial institution, search for and select “Breakwater Federal Credit Union.”
      7. Login using your BFCU online banking credentials. Note: If you get a pop-up that says “Connection error: Sign into your financial institution’s website…” then you will need to login to your online banking to set up your account recover questions first. Then, return to Experian to complete the boost process.
      8. Select all of the accounts that you pay bills from so it can scan those for applicable payments. Note: You are unable to add credit cards; only bills paid from a savings or checking account will qualify.
      9. Follow the prompts to complete the boost process.

 On Desktop

      2. Hover over “Credit” on the top menu bar, and under tools, click on “Experian Boost^®.”
      3. Click “Start your boost.”
      4. Review and accept the legal terms and conditions.
      5. When it asks for your financial institution, search for and select “Breakwater Federal Credit Union.
      6. Login using your BFCU online banking credentials. Don’t forget, you are also able to view your credit report once per year FREE through Experian, Transunion, and Equifax.

Note: Breakwater FCU uses Transunion for consumer loans and Transunion, Equifax, and Experian for real estate loans.  Because of this, the Boost may help with your score when applying for a home/land loan but will not affect your score when applying for a consumer loan.
